The Toronto Metros joined the old North American Soccer League (NASL) in 1975 after the Croatian National Sports Club Toronto Croatia (C.N.S.C.T.C) purchased the then National Soccer League (NSL) team. The Toronto Metros won the Soccer Bowl in 1976. In 1979, C.N.S.C.T.C., sold a stake in the team to the Global Television Network effectively splitting the team into to clubs. The Metros returned to the NSL, while the newly created joined stayed in the NASL.
